Byerly Bus Blog: Leg 2: Days 10-12 Tennessee Bandits

The next stop on our adventure was B and B Marina in Cleveland, TN on the Hiawassee River where there was miles of glass for the shredding. It was our biggest turnout of the trip for sure. We took out a bunch of local boats so we could accommodate all the people who came out. This is where we finally picked up Phil Aslinger, our junior men ripper who has been killing it on tour all season. He has been going to all the tour stops and turning some heads. It’s always great having Phil around, plus George needs someone else to beat up other than us!

I started my demo session on Jamey Jennings boat, a new friend we met and pulled his wife on the monarch behind his Malibu. This river had a ton of logs and floating pieces of trees scattered around and unfortunately we found the biggest log possible and ran into it. The log ripped off the bottom skegs of the boat and we started taking on some water. Thankfully we made it back to the dock in time before the ship went down. Jamey remanded in good spirits the rest of the day and we took him out on Scott’s boat.

A bunch brought out some vintage Byerly gear from the Wake Tech days and other Hyperlite shapes from over the years. It’s refreshing seeing the history of the sport through Scott and Butch’s shapes. We signed a ton of posters and boards and I even signed my first boat! That was a awesome experience! I also had the pleasure of meeting some good ol’ boys from Cleveland named Woody, Pete, and some other locals. The boys should us a nice time after the demo and we enjoyed a few cold beverages and shared some stories. All in all, it was the best and most personal experience we’ve had yet. Thanks for all the support fellows and we are marking it on calendar for next year.
